Prosperity Party’s 2nd Congress passes decisions on various agendas
Addis Ababa, February 1, 2025 (FMC) – The Prosperity Party’s 2nd Congress made several decisions on various agendas during today’s session, as reported by the party’s Public and International Relations Department Head, Bikila Hurissa (PhD).
The congress officially commenced yesterday with a grand opening ceremony that attracted 2,100 participants.
In attendance were 1,700 voting participants alongside 400 local and international guests, which included leaders and representatives from sister parties spanning 15 countries.
Bikila Hurissa (PhD) remarked that the congress was conducted democratically, involving representatives from diverse backgrounds. Additionally, the conference discussed and approved different agendas, including the appointment of the Presidium members who will steer the forum.
He mentioned that the organizing committee’s report and meeting procedural rules were endorsed unanimously following thorough discussions. Furthermore, the reports from the Central Committee and the Inspection and Ethics Committee were presented and subsequently approved after extensive dialogue.
The draft amendment to the party’s regulations was also discussed and passed unanimously. Bikila highlighted that the conference included a comprehensive evaluation of the achievements and challenges encountered by the party since its first conference, along with the measures undertaken to address these challenges.
He noted that this congress exemplified how the concept of prosperity resonated with the lower strata of society, eventually becoming ingrained in the culture.
The congress is set to continue tomorrow, featuring leadership elections for the party president and vice presidents, he confirmed. Today’s session concluded in a participatory and democratic spirit, with the establishment of an election committee.
Bikila emphasized that this congress will lay the groundwork for decisions that will impact the coming years.
