RRS relocates over 15,500 asylum seekers to Mirqaan Refugees Site in Somali region’s Bokh area

Addis Ababa, May 16, 2023 (FBC) – Refugees & Returnees Service of Ethiopia (RRS), revealed that tens of thousands of asylum seekers to the newly established Mirqaan Refugees Site in the Somali region’s Bokh area with the help of UNHCR, IOM and partners.

RRS stated that work is in progress on site development and second-level registration while relocating over 15,500 individuals.

Since the violence broke out in Laascaanood in the first week of February 2023, around 100,000 refugees have arrived in Somali region, Ethiopia.
