Schools in Tigray begin students’ registration to resume classes

Addis Ababa, April 26, 2023 (FBC) – Primary and secondary schools in Tigray region have begun registering students as they have finalized preparation to resume regular classes.

Communication Director of the Tigray Education Bureau, Dagnaw Aytegeb, told Fana Broadcasting Corporation that students from pre-school to 12th grade were registered today.

The Director also stated that regular education will start in the Tigray region on 2 May 2023. They also indicated that remedial classes will be given to students to make up the education time lost during the conflict.

He pointed out that various works have been done to bring back those who have been away from their areas due to the war and to repair the schools damaged by the war and put them back to work.

He recalled that the Bureau has been working in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, humanitarian organizations and stakeholders in order to resume education in the region.
