Some 141 Ethiopian migrants rescued from capsizing in the Red Sea

Addis Ababa, January 27, 2023 (FBC) – Some 141 vulnerable Ethiopian migrants, braving the perilous Red Sea en route to Yemen on a crowded human trafficking boat, were rescued from capsizing.

According to the Ethiopian Embassy in Djibouti, the migrants were extricated in the coastal region of Godoria, Djibouti, in collaboration with coastal guards.

The Embassy added that they were safely repatriated, confirming that 2 foreign individuals were apprehended on human trafficking charges.

The Embassy also extended its gratitude to the Djibouti Coast Guard for their efforts to rescue the migrant citizens.

Recall that the Ethiopian Embassy in Djibouti also facilitated yesterday the repatriation of 160 Ethiopian vulnerable migrants in collaboration with the International Organization for Migration in Djibouti.
