Some 33 Ethiopian Migrants repatriated Home From Puntland

Addis Ababa, March 30, 2023 (FBC) – Ethiopian Consulate in Puntland, Somalia repatriated 33 Ethiopian migrants in collaboration with the International Migration Organisation (IOM) office in Bosaso, Puntland, according to Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia.

Consul General, Dagnachew Yitbarek said, among the returnees are 12 women, 17 men and 4 children, MFA has stated.

He noted, the migrants were illegally brought into Puntland by human traffickers and have been subjected to abuse and exploitation by the trafficker ring.

He added, illegal migration across the national borders is life threatening.

Accordingly, he urged the youth to avoid falling victims to brokers and human traffickers that goad them to their undeserved deaths.

The Ethiopian Consulate in Puntland, Somalia in partnership with IOM has been facilitating safe return of Ethiopian migrants to their home country.
