Trade bazar to be held In Tigray region to stimulate business activities

Addis Ababa, April 23, 2023 (FBC) – The Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration disclosed that a month-long trade bazaar will be held in the cities of Mekelle, Wukro, Adigrat and Maychew to stimulate the business activities of the Tigray region.

The trade bazar will be held under the theme of “Tigray’s Business Activity for Regional Peace” for one month from April 29, 2023, according to ENA.

The trade bazar organized by the ministry in collaboration with the Tigray Regional Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations and Amnen Marketing and Promotion, it was indicated.

State Minister of Trade and Regional Integration Teshale Belhu said that the trade bazaar aims to reinvigorate the business activity in the Tigray region, which has been affected by the war.

Government and private investors are also invited to actively partake in the trade bazar by providing their products and services, he added.

Following the peace agreement to end the crisis in northern Ethiopia, consultation has been made with the Interim Administration of the Tigray region to stimulate the business activity, the state minister elaborated.

He stated that the trade bazaar also aims to ease shortages of products and restore people-to-people relationship by delivering basic goods to the society.

Representative of Tigray Regional Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations Kasey Leaka said that they have made adequate preparations for the successful conduct of the trade bazaar.

He elaborated that a nationwide panel discussion will be held in Mekele City to restore the business activities of the Tigray region on April 29, 2023.

In order to ease the supply of products that the region is facing, he called on big manufacturers and importers to participate in the trade bazar.

The Deputy General Secretary of the Ethiopian Chamber of Commerce and Sectorial Associations Degala Ergeno said that the bazaar will play a pivotal role in encouraging business activities in the region.

He also stated that the trade bazar will contribute to restoring people-to-people relationship and strengthen free movement of the people.
