UN reaffirms commitment to advance women empowerment, equality in Ethiopia

Addis Ababa, May 24, 2023 (FBC) –Cecile Mukarubuga, the UN Women’s Country Representative for Ethiopia, presented a copy of her credential letter to Melaku Bedada, Chief of Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia.

In the course of their conversation, Melaku expressed his appreciation for the work done by UN Women to support women in terms of gender equality and women’s empowerment in various regions of the country.

He asked the office to continue to extend its assistance to women and children who have been affected by the conflict in the northern part of the country.

The representative reaffirmed her commitment to advancing the cause of women’s empowerment and equality by working in tandem with the government and other institutions.
