UNICEF praises Ethiopia for driving forward Food and Nutrition Strategy

Addis Ababa, March 23, 2023 (FBC) – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Demeke Mekonnen together with Health Minister Lia Tadesse and UNICEF Ethiopia Representative, Abou Kampo launched this morning the Food and Nutrition Strategy (FNS) Baseline Survey Preliminary Report which provides data on food security in Ethiopia.

“We would like to commend the leadership and commitment of the Government of Ethiopia for driving forward the FNS baseline survey. Malnutrition robs children of their future potential. We have to work closer with communities to find local solutions to address it.” said UNICEF Ethiopia Representative, Abou Kampo.

The FNS 2022-2030 is a strategy which aims to end malnutrition in all its forms in Ethiopia, especially for children.

The report validates the national programmatic priorities and the need to accelerate integrated responses and initiatives to improve food and nutrition security.
