UNIDO vows continued support to promote investment potentials in Ethiopia

Addis Ababa, May 24, 2023 (FBC) – Ethiopian Ambassador to Japan, Daba Debele had a courtesy meeting with Fumio Adachi, Head of United Nations Industrial Development Organization: Investment and Technology Promotion Office in Tokyo (UNIDO ITPO Tokyo) on Tuesday.

Ambassador Daba Debele appreciated UNIDO Investment and Technology Promotion Office (ITPO) in Tokyo, for its support in promoting Ethiopian products to Japanese market and its efforts to attract Japanese investors and technologies to the country.

The Ambassador also gave an explanation about the current investment potentials and conducive investment environment in Ethiopia, the government’s commitment to attract foreign direct investment and export trade promotion.

Ambassador Debele has requested UNIDO ITPO Tokyo to strengthen its support to attract more Japanese investors to Ethiopia, to increase the volume and variety of Ethiopian products in Japan market as well as to facilitate technology transfer from Japan to Ethiopia.

Adachi, for her part, affirmed UNIDO ITPO’s continued support to promote Ethiopia’s agricultural products and investment potentials and opportunities to Japanese community.

Finally, they reached an agreement to conduct Ethiopia Investment Seminar in coordination next month in Tokyo.
