Wondesen Ketema, Eyob Habteselassie banned from athletics competition for doping

Addis Ababa, December 23, 2020 (FBC) – Ethiopian athletes Wondesen Ketema and Eyob Habteselassie have been banned from athletics competition for doping.

Among the two athletes who were suspected over use of doping, Eyob Habteselassie has tested positive for cathinone On February 2, 2020 ahead of the race held in Thailand, it is indicated. And he had been banned from any running for four years in a row till end of 2024.

Wondesen Ketma also tested positive for cathinone the same year and encountered alike penalty effective 2024.

As he reportedly disrupted investigation processes and violated law and rules through in bringing unregistered documentations, has been banned for eight consecutive years from the completion of the first penalty to complete in 2024. Accordingly, Wondesen Tesema has been banned from any athletics competition till 2032.

The Ethiopian National Anti-Doping Office has reiterated commitment to continue drug testing and monitoring activity.
