Addis Ababa University, Japan Embassy sign MoU to partner in health sector

Addis baba, May 28, 2021 (FBC) – Addis Ababa University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Japanese Embassy to forge partnership in the health sector.

The agreement includes support of laboratory equipment and donation of Japan-made malaria and Covid 19 testing kits to Centre for Innovative Drug Development and Therapeutic Trials for Africa (CDT-Africa). 

CDT-Africa, a pharmaceutical center of Addis Ababa University, will receive more than 450 testing supplies from the government of Japan through the embassy in Addis Ababa.

The agreement is said to play a crucial role in supporting technology transfer endeavors at both national and continental leveProfessor Tassew Woldehana said Japan is a close partner for Addis Ababa University in education and research fields.

Japanese Ambassador to Ethiopia Ito Takako, to her part, reaffirmed commitment of her country to cement cooperation with Africa particularly to enhance cooperation with Ethiopia.
