‘Addis Weg’ roundtable discuses role of media in Ethiopia

Addis Ababa, December 25, 2019 (FBC) –Organized by office of the Prime Minister, ‘Addis Weg’ – experts roundtable, is currently taking place at the Hilton Addis hotel.

The discussion, which mainly focused on the role of media, attracted heads of private and public media houses as well as journalists and other stakeholders.

In the morning session, participants reviewed the role played by mass media in narrowing gaps created in political and social matters in Ethiopia.

The media were blamed for giving more time for conflict inciting programs, instead of encouraging interaction and harmonious coexistence among people.

Moreover, there were gaps in entertaining diverse viewpoints and giving attention to programs focused on women and persons with disabilities, they pointed out.
