Africa Day 2021 celebrated in Addis Ababa with various events

Addis Ababa, May 25, 2021 (FBC) – The African Day is being celebrated in Addis Ababa at the Mado Hotel commemorating the founding of the then Organization of African Unity on the 25th of May 1963.

The day is also being celebrated in various countries of African and various parts of the world with various ceremonies.

Celebration values the African renaissance, the spirit of Pan-Africanism, cultural identity and shared values and agenda 2063 of the AU and other continental instruments.

The celebration has witnessed the presence of Ethiopian government officials, a number members of the diplomatic community including representatives from the embassies of several countries in Addis Ababa, among others.

“Africa has long overlooked the role of culture in the promotion and formation of Nations. I intend, during this mandate, to correct this tendency by taking an interest, more than I have done in the past, in African culture and thought. I have indicated that I will appeal to academics and sociologists from all cultural spaces to make their contribution to building a strong and achievable African consensus” said Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat.
