Al Nejashi mosque will be restored soon: Islamic Affairs Council

Addis Ababa, January 6, 2021 (FBC) –The Ethiopian Islamic Affairs Supreme Council (EIASC) has urged the Government to give protection to historical places and heritages.

The Council’s comment comes following the damages caused to Al Nejashi mosque in Tigray regional state.

In a statement issued today, the Council denounced the damages caused to the mosque.

A team composed of members from the Council and Authority for Research and Conservation of Cultural Heritage will head to the site to see the extent of damage the mosque sustained, the statement added.

The Council, in collaboration with pertinent bodies, will restore the mosque soon.

The Council finally called on the Government to hold accountable those responsible for the damages caused to the mosque.
