All necessary preparations made for 37th African Union Summit: MoFA

Addis Ababa, January 25, 2024 (FBC) – In a weekly press statement, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Meles Alem, stated that thousands of officials and workers from 126 institutions, in addition to citizens and foreigners, attended the Diplomacy Exhibition being held at the Science Museum.

About 700 diplomats based in Addis Ababa, and 152 journalists and photographers from the federal, state and city administrations, government and private media houses also covered the exhibition, said the Spokesperson, Ambassador Meles said.

He explained the Diplomatic Exhibition has made it possible to show Ethiopia’s centuries-old diplomatic journey and gain global support.

Ambassador Meles noted that the second generation Ethiopian Diaspora who came home at the invitation of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD), made visits to the exhibition and expressed their support for their country.

The ambassador also mentioned about the two books that are published by the Ministry and their significance in preserving the memory of the institution and the general diplomatic history of the country.”

Concurrently, Ambassador Meles Alem, stated that ambassadors and mission leaders of Ethiopian embassies are having all rounded discussions on ways of further protecting the national interests of the country.

The ambassadors are expected to make a field visit in addition to the discussion that focuses on political, economic and social; regional, continental and global issues in the forum that lasted more than a week now.

On the other hand, all the necessary preparations are being made for the 37th African Union summit, which will be held from February 25 to 26, 2024, according to the Spokesperson.
