Ambassador Seleshi discusses with professors of various U.S. universities

Addis Ababa, June 26, 2022 (FBC) – Ethiopian Ambassador to the U.S, Seleshi Bekele held discussions with 25 professors from various Universities across the United States. 

The Ambassador briefed the professors about the rich history and diverse culture of  Ethiopia as well as the contributions of the large Ethiopian diaspora community in the U.S. in enriching the longstanding bilateral relations between the two countries. 

Discussions were also  made on  economic, social, cultural and environmental issues, particularly, the impacts of global and local factors like climate change and associated natural disasters, conflicts, food insecurity, migration, etc and their impact on lives of people and society, and the way to mitigate them. 

The group has also raised the success of African Americans including those of Ethiopian origin and asked what Ethiopians at home like to know from African-Americans. 

The Ambassador expressed his appreciation to the professors for their keen interest to learn about Ethiopia and the Ethiopian Diaspora in the United States.

He further underscored the importance of such visits not only to enhance our friendship and mutual understanding, but also to establish twinning arrangements, partnerships for joint research and student exchange programs between Ethiopian and American Universities.
