Addis Ababa, November 7, 2021 (FBC) – A Washington, D.C. based American journalist Bob Schlehuber who is working for Sputnik News has debunked the ongoing fake news being disseminated by the western media regarding current situation in Ethiopia.

“I’m in Addis Ababa for the last four days. It’s a beautiful city with beautiful people. And the reports that most Western media putting out are not accurate. The Western media for many reasons are supporting the TPLF” he said.

Some western media, among them, the New York Times, Washington Post, CNN, BBC and Bloomberg are pushing lies and falsehoods about Ethiopia, he said, adding Addis Ababa and the environs are now peaceful and calm and the people are engaged in their day to day activities.

“The reports from the western media about the security situation in Addis Ababa are not accurate. Addis Ababa right now is peaceful; Thousands of residents of Addis Ababa and the surrounding have gathered here in the Meskel Square and protested against the terrorist TPLF peacefully. Ethiopians are supporting the democratically elected government now” he told FBC.

He said that he was also in Bahir Dar talking and heard horrific stories from IDPs who fled their homes in various parts of Amhara Region, he indicated.

“IDPs told me stories of their houses being looted, people being kidnapped, women being raped and stolen and taken. And it’s quite tragic to hear what the TPLF has done to people of Amhara on for the last year,” Bob Schlehuber said.

“How is your comment on that? Yeah, it was incredibly peaceful today. It was incredibly uplifting. It is beautiful to see people of Ethiopia united together with the government to support the country and to support one Ethiopia”

I don’t think the people of Addis hate the people of Tigray. I think they want there to be one Ethiopia together. And what we’re reading in the Western media is not true. Reading the New York Times, reading the Washington Post, CNN, BBC, Bloomberg, all of them are pushing lies and falsehoods.

And I’ve seen so many false reports from journalists in Nairobi, Kenya, and others who are not here in Addis Ababa.

The international community needs to call on the TPLF to put down their weapons and stop their attack on people in Amhara and Afar Region.

The international community needs to get behind the democratically elected Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and the people of Ethiopia and their future.
