Addis Ababa, August 10, 2023 (FBC) – The 2023/24 Ethiopian Premier League season fixtures have been announced by the league’s governing body, Ethiopian Premiere League Share Company-EPLSC.
FBC learns that the upcoming Ethiopian Premier League season opening fixtures will kick off on Sunday 1 October 2023 in a game between last season’s runners up Bahir Dar City against Ethiopian Insurance.
Whereas, Sidama Bunna will face Ethiopia Bunna, Adama City take on the returning Ethiopian Commercial Bank, and new boys Shashemene City host Wolayta Dicha. Similarly, newcomers Hambericho Durame entertain Dire Dawa City, Hawassa City take on Fasil Kenema, Hadiya Hossana entaertain Mechal and the reigning champions St. George will host Wolkite City.
It is noted that the first fixture of the Sheger Derby between St. George and Ethiopian Coffee will be played in match week 7.
On the other hand, the 2022/23 Ethiopian Premier League “best player” awards and the bulk of clubs’ financial distribution will be announced on August 20, the League’s governing body confirmed.
