Electric services restored in most parts of Tigray Region

Addis Ababa, November 15, 2022 (FBC) – Ethiopian Electric Utility (EEU) announced that power services have been restored in most parts of Tigray region including the regional capital Mekelle.

EEU stated that efforts are underway to repair damaged power lines in all war affected areas of Tigray, Amhara and Afar regions.

In the wake of the peace agreement, technicians have been deployed to Tigray in addition to the two regions; Amhara and Afar, and damaged facilities have been reequipped with the necessary spare parts.

From Mekelle and Mehoni substation, the capital Mekelle and other towns including Mehoni, Kuiha, Samre, Hagere Selam, Chercher and Ribha Addis have got electricity back, the Utility indicated.

Other parts of Tigray reigon have also got electric power back from recently repaired Wuqro and Adigrat, Alamata and Shire substations, EEU said.

Maximum efforts are also underway to enable all areas connected to Adwa substation, the Utility added.
