Ethiopia, World Bank sign a $300mln grant agreement

Addis Ababa, May 16, 2022 (FBC) – The Ministry of Finance and the World Bank Group have signed a 300 million USD grant agreement to rebuild conflict affected areas.

The financial pact is aimed to reinstate war-affected people in several parts of the country and rebuild infrastructures damaged by the conflict.

The financial support will also improve basic service delivery and build on drought resilient infrastructure in Ethiopia.

It is indicated that more than 5 million people in Afar, Amhara, Benshangul Gumuz, Oromia and Tigray regions will benefit from the financial support.

Finance Minister of Ethiopia, Ahmed Shide and World Bank Country Director for Ethiopia, Eritrea, South Sudan and Sudan Ousmane Dione have signed the agreement.
