Ethiopian Muslims mark Eid Al-Adha across the nation

Addis Ababa, July 31, 2020 (FBC) – Ethiopian Muslims are celebrating Eid Al-Adha holiday with various religious events across the nation.

President of Ethiopian Islamic Affairs Supreme Council President, Grand Mufti Haji Oumer Idris, while extending his happy Eid Al Adha wishes, urged faithful to show kindness and enthusiasm to the needy while observing the holiday.

The Grand Mufti said the holiday is adorned with a national merriment for Ethiopia has successfully completed the first phase filling of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD).

Here in the capital Addis Ababa, religious leaders held Eid prayer in the Grand Mosque and addressded the faithful through live streaming Islamic teachings.

On the religious occasion, the Grand Mufti called up on Muslims to extend charity especially to those who are in need due to the pandemic.

Eid al-Adha is an Islamic holiday during which animals are generally sacrificed, the meat from which is distributed to the poor.
