Final report of EHRC and OHCHR on alleged human rights abuses in Ethiopia  to be released on November 

Addis Ababa, September 16, 2021 (FBC) – Spokesperson of Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ministry, Ambassador Dina Mufti briefed Addis Ababa based local and international media on major activities the country has conducted during the last week regarding political and public diplomacy sectors.

On the occasion, the Ambassador said the Ethiopian Human Rights Commission (EHRC) Delegation met with the Office of UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) on the activities carried out in investigating alleged human rights issues in the Northern Part of Ethiopia.

Ambassador Dina said the joint investigation process has been finalized and the final report will be released in coming November.

Regarding the discussion held on Wednesday between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Demeke Mekonnen and his DRC counterpart Christophe Lutundula, the Spokesperson said DRC appreciated Ethiopia’s resolution to solve the GERD issues with AU-led tripartite negotiation.

He also added that the recent statement by the UNSC President on GERD supports Ethiopia’s position on reasonable use of the River Nile development purposes, and the AU-led trilateral talks.

The upcoming China-Africa Summit is expected to bring positive initiatives that will ensure mutual benefit for African countries and China itself, he said.

Support of the Ethiopian Diaspora Community across the wold are intensifying finacial and moral support to the National Defence Forces, GERD and other ongoing actvities in the country, he added.
