Addis Ababa, April 22, 2022 (FBC) – Refugees and Returnees Service (RRS), Immigration and Citizenship Service and Ethiopian Statistical Service have signed trilateral MoU to register refugees vital events with database system.
A report by RRS shows that 25,647 refugees’ vital events were registered as part of a campaign from late December 2021 to 30 March 2022.
On the event, RRS Director General Tesfahun Gobezay said what has been done over the past three months with a rapid registration campaign is pretty good and urged the momentum to keep going.
It’s to be recalled that Ethiopia has bestowed a privilege by law to refugees to get their vital events registered starting 2011. Birth, death, marriage and divorce are the major vital events to be registered.
