Peoples of Ethiopia, Sudan interwoven historically and culturally: Amb Rahma Salih Elobied

Addis Ababa, July 16, 2022 (FBC) – Ambassador of Ethiopia to Djibouti Berhanu Tsegaye received the newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Sudan to Djibouti, Ambassador Rahma Salih Elobied, in his office on Friday.

During the meeting, Ambassador Berhanu Tsegaye welcomed the newly appointed ambassador and congratulated her on her new position.

Emphasizing the significance of Ethiopia and Sudan’s deep-rooted, cultural, and historical people-to-people ties, the Ambassador stressed the need for future engagements on outstanding bilateral issues.

Ambassador Rahma Salih Elobied, for her part, stated that the peoples of Ethiopia and Sudan are interwoven with profound historical and cultural ties, and reaffirmed her government’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.

Given Sudan’s role as chair of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) and the organization’s headquarters being in Djibouti, both sides agreed to collaborate, particularly through the framework of IGAD, to strengthen diplomatic ties and work diligently on regional issues.
