President hails female soldiers for their acts of valor at frontline

Addis Ababa, March 8, 2022 (FBC) – Addressing attendees of the celebration of the International Women’s Day organized by the National Defense Force at Military Officers’ Club , President Sahle-Work Zewde has praised female soldiers who fought from frontline to safeguard sovereignty of the nation.

“I honor you for your courageous achievements and bravery at the battle front. Ethiopia will ensure peace through women’s struggle. The nation continue being respected and feared with sacrifices of her heroines,”

“On the one hand, they wear on their military uniforms and sacrifice their precious lives for the survival and unity of their country and the well-being of their people. On the other hand, as a result of the war, they had to leave their homes, property, livelihoods and travel hundreds of miles in search of safety for their children. They will be displaced. In all of this, there is rape, the sacrifice of life. “In any case, women are the ones who suffer the most from the lack of peace,” the president said.

The president also conferred certificate of appreciation on female soldiers who bravely fought against the TPLF to safeguard sovereignty of Ethiopia from threats posed by the terrorist group.

Senior military officers and high level government officials have attended the International Women’s Day which is being celebrated for 46th round in Ethiopia.
