Addis Ababa, May 7, 2023 (FBC) – The FDRE President Sahle-Work Zewde, also the patron of the Ethiopian Red Cross Society, sent best wishes ahead of the World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day.

The World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day will be celebrated for the 76th time worldwide and for the 65th time in Ethiopia, under the theme: “Everything we do comes #fromtheheart”.

The FDRE President explained that this year’s theme indicates that the volunteers and workers who rescue people who are harmed by natural and man-made disasters all over the world understand the purpose of the crisis and give hope to the victims. They are the first ones to step up and support those in need around them and they do it with love and #fromtheheart.

The President pointed out that the Ethiopian Red Cross Society has been providing humanitarian services for the past 87 years led by volunteers and workers who have built humanity in their hearts.

She recalled the examplar Ethiopian Red Cross Society volunteers and workers who moved in difficult situations to save the lives of people who were exposed to the humanitarian crises in recent times in Ethiopia, especially conflicts and droughts.

President Shale-Work expressed her heartfelt appreciation for the incomparable dedication of the volunteers and workers by sacrificing their lives while working for humanitarian service.

She also called on the community to assist the Ethiopian Red Cross Society workers and volunteers and provide the necessary support to the organization.
