Security Service donates 10m birr to rebuild Tigray initiative

Addis Ababa, February 27, 2021 (FBC)- The National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS) today donated 10 million birr support to the rebuild Tigray solidarity initiative.

The initiative was launched last week by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, regional presidents and city administrators to support the interim administration and people of Tigray regional state.

Today’s donation by NISS is in response to the call made by the Prime Minister, urging all to contribute to the initiative aimed at mobilising funds to support the humanitarian efforts underway in the regional state.

The Security Service had been supporting the law enforcement operation in the regional state,  said Temesgen Tiruneh, Director General of NISS, adding the Service will continue to provide its assistance until life returns to normalcy in the regional state.

The donation is the beginning not the end, he said, adding NISS will continue to support ongoing efforts to restore sustainable peace and security in the regional state.

Minister for Innovation and Technology, Dr Abrham Belay, said the people of Tigray now need the love and support of all its compatriots, adding the donation by NISS demonstrates its solidarity with the people of Tigray.
