Time We Become Food Secure Drawing Near: Mayor

Addis Ababa, October 12, 2021 (FBC) – Today, Lady Mayor of Addis Ababa, Adanech Abebe, along with other high-ranking officials, accompanying Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD), has paid a visit to cluster wheat farms at Hitosa District in Arsi, Oromia state.

It is this visit that brings her to the conclusion that the time we can become food self-sufficient is not far-off.

She indicates on social media platform that the engagement of previously idle lands into cluster wheat farms heralds the coming of time to ensuring food security in the country.

Adanech goes on witnessing that, in Arsi alone, out of the 680 hectares of land covered with food crop in the current harvest season, the 388 hectare is cultivated in cluster methods, one way of improving productivity.

This is a ‘great beginning’ in the sector, notes the Mayor, extending her gratefulness for those working relentlessly to develop agricultural productivity all over the nation.
