Timket to be celebrated colourfully in 83 sites in the capital

Addis Ababa January 17, 2023 (FBC) – Ethiopian Orthodox Church Diocese of Addis Ababa announced that Timket festival, the Ethiopian Epiphany, will be celebrated in 83 sites in seven sub-cities including Jan-Meda, a large public gathering site in Addis Ababa.

In his Timket best wishes to the faithful, archbishop of Ethiopian Orthodox Church Diocese of Addis Ababa, Abune Henok, stated that adequate preparations have been made for the celebration of the festival in a manner that preserves the religious values.

The Archbishop explained that the church is working jointly with the security forces to celebrate the festival peacefully.

Many guests are expected to attend the celebration of Timket festival in Addis Ababa and all stakeholders should discharge their responsibility in celebrating the festival peacefully, Archbishop Henok said.

The Archbishop also called on the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahdo Church Sunday School and other youths as well as religious associations to jointly work with security forces to realize the peaceful celebration of the festival.
