WaterAid provides 2.5m birr support to Nat’l COVID19 Resource Mobilisation Committee

Addis Ababa, April 1, 2020 (FBC) – WaterAid Ethiopia (WAE) has provided nearly a 2.5 million birr support to the Government’s initiative to strengthen the response against the COVID-19 epidemic.

In a statement sent to FBC today,  WAE said it handed over the assistance to the Ministry of Water, Irrigation and Energy.

WaterAid Ethiopia offered 50 water tanks with 5,000 liters capacity, 2500 liters of alcohol and over 1000 bars of laundry soaps to be distributed to health centers and temporary COVID-19 treatment sites within Addis Ababa.

As a leading water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) focused international non-governmental organization (INGO) operating in Ethiopia, WaterAid Ethiopia is committed to provide the necessary materials for hand washing and sanitation to curb the spread of COVID-19.

The organization will continue to deliver much needed support as it secures more funds to help resolve the apparent shortage of public health logistics in health institutions to safely provide medical help to COVID-19 patients, the statement added.
