Attempted attacks from TPLF successully suppressed at all fronts: PM Abiy

Addis Ababa, November 5, 2020 (FBC) – In a statement issued yesterday, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed said the country has been successful in counteracting an aggression instigated by TPLF against the Ethiopian Defense Forces.

“War cannot be averted with composure of the good for it will be instigated by offenders”, said the premier.

The utmost efforts exerted by the government to avoid the antagonism with the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) but lost patience due to the unprecedented attack against National Defense which has long been safeguarding interests of the people of the region.

TPLF started the perpetration against the Defense Force just after two cargo aircrafts carrying the new currency notes to be distrusted in the region landed at Mekele airport, said the Prime Minister.

The TPLF forces shamefully opened fire on and attacked the Northern Command of the Federal Defense who has been supporting community in Tigray in fighting locust swarms infestations and other social contributions, Abiy paraphrased.

The Prime Minister explained that TPLF mainly intended to disorganize the defense force and expose the sovereignty of the nation to enemies outside.

Prime Minister Abiy ahmed lauded the people of Tigray Regional State for dismissing the war heralded by TPLF as futile and fleeing to neighboring areas, describing the decision as “historic”

He also thanked the Special Force and Militia of Amhara Regional State for successfully counteracting the offensive triggered by TPLF in border areas with Tigray Region.

All the attempts of a battalion of the TPLF faction in Humera, Dansha and Kirakir areas of Amhara-Tigray border have been fully suppressed in by courageous gallantry manifested by Militia and Special Force of Amhara Region.

The Prime Minister urged the people to stand with the national defense force and called for further military capacity in order to fully quell the hostility incited by the TPLF faction, and maintain peace and development strides of the nation.
