China vows to intensify support to Ethiopia’s efforts to ensure agricultural productivity

Addis Ababa, December 1, 2023 (FBC) – A Chinese delegation led by Chairman of the Agricultural and Rural Development Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China held a meeting with Deputy Speaker of the Ethiopian House of Peoples Representatives, Lomi Bedo to discuss bilateral issues of mutual concern.

During the meeting, Head of the Agricultural and Rural Development Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, Du Zhao, affirmed China’s commitment to strengthen support to Ethiopia’s ongoing efforts to ensure agricultural productivity.

It was stated on the occasion that the bilateral cooperation between Ethiopia and China is gaining momentum particularly in the areas of infrastructure, education and health sector.

Deputy House Speaker, Lomi Bedo, for her part, pointed out that China is Ethiopia’s strategic development partner and nation’s commitment to its cooperation with Ethiopia is playing a paramount role in cementing the ties between the two countries.

Du Zhao, shared China’s best practices that enabled his country to transform the agriculture sector and ensure food security, pledging to intensity support to Ethiopia’s endeavors to achieve food-self-sufficiency.

The two sides also agreed to cement bilateral ties between the two counties through forging parliamentary cooperation.
