Construction of four irrigation projects to start this month

Addis Ababa, December 25, 2023 (FBC) – The Ministry of Irrigation and Lowland Areas (MILLs) has announced that the commencement of construction for four irrigation projects is scheduled for this month.

In an exclusive interview with Fana Broadcasting Corporate, Mr. Bzuneh Tolcha, Head of the Public Relations and Communications at the Ministry, said that the irrigation projects will be built in Oromia, Afar, Somali and Sidama regions.

The PR head stated that upon completion, these projects will contribute to the development of over 19,000 hectares of land, ultimately benefiting more than 38,000 farmers.

The projects include Fentale Irrigation Development Project, Logia Lot 1 Dam and Related Works, Shinllie Ground Water Irrigation Development Project and Gidabo Lot 2 Right Wing Irrigation Development Projects, the Official disclosed.

He also mentioned that the construction of these projects is anticipated to be completed within a timeframe of 2 to 3 years.
