CSOs actively participating in community based activities: Agency

Addis Ababa, September 3, 2020 (FBC) – Agency for Civil Society Organizations witnessed that Civil Societies in Ethiopia are actively participating in community based activities across the nation.

Civil Society Organizations have contributed to better achievements in Agricultural, Health, Environmental Development and Humanitarian sector over the concluded Ethiopian Budget year.

Registration Monitoring and Supervision Division Director at the Agency, Teshome Worku said civil society organizations were at the frontline in the national green legacy initiative activities, and extended support amounting 4 Million Birr in response the coronavirus pandemic in the country.

The organizations are continuing support to the efforts the government is exerting to curb the pandemic, he added.

Civil Society Organization’s contribution in awareness raising efforts in the community regarding protection of sexual violence has been considerable, according to the director.

Potable Water Well development, expansion of educational facilities and health facilities are related works among other are the areas where civil society organizations have engaged in, the agency indicated.
