Cuba, Ethiopia agree to strengthen agricultural dev’t cooperation

Addis Ababa, May 17, 2023 (FBC) – Minister of Agriculture, Girma Amente, met and discussed with Cuban Ambassador to Ethiopia, Jorge Lefebre Nicholas.

The discussion focused on ways to promote and strengthen agricultural cooperation between Ethiopia and Cuba.

During the discussion the two sides agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Cuba and Ethiopia in research modalities, technical assistances, technology transfer and capacity development.

It is stated that Cuba is set to support Ethiopia in agricultural bio technology, animal health and its production technology, mechanizations, irrigations, and coffee productions.

Cuban Ambassador to Ethiopia, Jorge Lefebre Nicholas, said that Cuba has common interest to promote bilateral cooperation and share modest experience for agriculture.

Minister of Agriculture, Girma Amente, on his part stated that Ethiopia and Cuba have long historical relationship and they are doing a lot in economy growth.

It is mentioned that memorandum of understanding (MoU) which serves as legal framework for the cooperation of the two countries will be signed in the near future between the two sister countries.
