Cuban experts in Ethiopia to provide technical assistance to sugar industries

Addis Ababa, May 24, 2024 (FBC) – Cuban sugar industry technical team has started working at Omo belt on June 23, 2024 concluding its work at Wonji Shoa and Metehara sugar factories as per the signed the MoU signed between Ethiopian Sugar Industry Group and its Cuban government-owned counterpart, Azcuba Goupo Azukariero.

Tibebu Mamo, General Manager of Omo Kuraz I & III factories, briefed the Cuban team on the overall condition of the plant.

“The technical team will come up with the remedial ideas which would help debottleneck the challenges the factories are facing in the agricultural operations and related areas,” Tibebu pointed out.

The technical team has also held discussions with the division’s deputy general managers of the factory on their future engagements aimed at boosting sugar production capacity of the plant.

The team is also scheduled to start working on Omo Kuraz II Sugar Factory as of the coming Sunday June 26, 2024, it was learnt.
