Customs Commission announces seizure of contraband items worth 127.6mln birr in eight days

Addis Ababa, August 8, 2022 (FBC) – Ethiopian Customs Commission has announced seizure of contraband items worth 127.6 million birr during the past eight days.

Commission also stated that 14 people who have been arrested in connection with the smuggling of contraband items are under investigation. Items seized include, among others, clothes, petroleum, livestock, electronic devices, coffee, medicines and drugs.

Out of the total goods intercepted, those amounting to 118.5 million have been intercepted while being smuggled into the country, the Commission stated.
