Denmark pledges to continue to support Ethiopia’s development

Addis Ababa, January 24, 2022 (FBC) – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Demeke Mekonnen has received Denmark’s Minister of Development Cooperation, Dan Jørgensen at his office.

During their discussion, Demeke said that Denmark is Ethiopia’s key development partner, pledging commitment of the nation to cement its ties with the Scandinavian country.

Ethiopia attaches great importance to its multifaceted cooperation with Denmark, Demeke said.

Demeke expressed gratitude to the Danish Government for its balanced stance on the situation in Ethiopia when the nation went through difficult times.

He explained about the implementation of the peace agreement and reiterated government determination for sustainable peace. He also brifed the Danish Minister on the humanitarian delivery and reconstruction activities in war affected areas, calling for Denmark’s support to these efforts.

Dan Jørgensen, for his part, appreciated Ethiopia’s commitment for the peace agreement, highlighting importance of the accord in bringing lasting peace and development in the country.

He further reaffirmed his country’s commitment to elevate its cooperation with Ethiopia and continue to support development endeavors in the country.
