Deputy Mayor Plants trees with artists, public figures

Addis Ababa, June 15, 2020 (FBC) – Deputy Mayor of Addis Ababa, Engineer Takelle Umma has planted a thousand tree seedlings along with artists and public figures at Yeka Millennium Park.

During the planting occasion, Engineer Takelle called up on the public to plant trees in all available open spaces and residential quarters in conformity with COVID 19 precautions.

He further urged called for nurturing of tree plants in line with achieving the countries green development goal.

Planting of Seedlings of fruits and vegetables critical to enhance urban farming and ensure food security in the capital has been given due attention by the city administration, Takelle said.

Ethiopian Music sectors association union that has donated the sales of the “Nigat” Album for COVID 19 emergency response so far has joined 7 Million trees planting mission in the city of Addis Ababa, Takelle also tweeted.

Of the 5 billion seedlings prepared for the already started green legacy campaign, 7 million are timetabled to be planted in Addis Ababa, Mayor’s office indicated.
