Deputy PM launches Taitu Culture and Education Center in Addis Ababa

Addis Ababa, March 13, 2021 (FBC) – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Demeke Mekonnen along with other high government officials has launched Taitu Culture and Education Center which is initiated by artist Alemtsehay Wodajo.

Supreme Court President Meaza Ashenafi, Deputy Mayor of Addis Ababa, Adanech Abibie, founder of the Center Artist Alemtsehay Wodajo and representatives of various communities have attended the launching ceremony. Fundraising session has also been started on the occasion to finance the center.

The center is founded in a historical residence  which was formerly owned by Bitwoded Hailegiyorgis Woldemichael and transferred to  the center by the City Administration of Addis Ababa.

Demeke said on the occasion that the center will have a paramount significance in preserving and promoting cultural, historical and artistic values of the country.

The deputy premier appreciated the founder of the center, Artist Alemtsehay Wodajo for her achievements in various engagements including women empowerment, and called others to follow her steps.

He further called up on all to contribute to successfulness of the center pledging his own commitment to do so.

Taitu Culture and Education has been operating in the United States for more than 20 years in the United States.

The Center is named after Empress Taitu who is known for her effective leadership in wisdom in modern history of Ethiopia.
