Deputy Premier Demeke Mekonnen addresses newly appointed ambassadors

Addis Ababa, February 24, 2022 (FBC) – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Demeke Mekonnen said Ambassadors representing Ethiopia should fit the position that they are assigned to better protect the multifaceted interests of their country.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister made the remarks today while addressing the newly appointed ambassadors amidst their third day capacity building training session.

Ambassadors should gauge the ever changing geopolitical interests of various countries and specific national interests of the countries that they are assigned to register fruitful results to the people and government of Ethiopia, he added.

Recalling the recent unwavering efforts of the federal government and Ethiopians, here and abroad, to defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country, the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister further called on the Ambassadors to do their level best to keep the momentum.

The capacity building training which has been given to the ambassadors for the last two days has continued today covering various issues.
