DPM & FM Demeke calls on his Yemeni counterpart to work closely towards reactivation of ties

Addis Ababa, March 20, 2023 (FBC) – Deputy Prime Minister & Foreign Minister Demeke Mekonnen conferred with Yemeni Foreign Minister, Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak, at office today.

During the deliberations DPM & FM Demeke briefed the Yemeni Foreign Minister on current affairs.

Working to consolidate the peace process is a key priority of Ethiopia, he noted. Demeke concurrently emphasized the need to capitalize on the historical ties between the two countries that predicate not only on interests but also age-old people-to-people relations.

While underscoring the need to further bolster the multifaceted ties, Demeke urged Mubarak to work closely towards the reactivation of relations.

Mubarak, on his part, assured Demeke of his government’s continued support in the resumption of formal engagements.

Yemen and Ethiopia need political consultations, Mubarak told Demeke. He also said, the Government of Yemen will assist the Government of Ethiopia to expedite the voluntary repatriation of Ethiopians in Yemen.
