DPM & FM Demeke confers with UK ambassador to Ethiopia

Addis Ababa, March 9, 2023 (FBC) – Darren John Welch, Ambassador of the UK and Northern Ireland to Ethiopia, pays a courtesy call on the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Ethiopia, Demeke Mekonnen, today.

During the discussion, DPM & FM Demeke expressed gratitude for the UK’s humanitarian support to people affected by conflict and natural disasters in Ethiopia. He also affirmed Ethiopia’s commitment to the implementation of the Pretoria Peace Agreement.

Besides resuming services in conflict-affected areas, he said government of Ethiopia is preparing a roadmap on a Transitional Justice mechanism and has established a high-level Inter-Ministerial Taskforce to implement the recommendations of the joint UN-EHRC to ensure accountability.
