DPM & FM Demeke pens congratulatory letter to the new Chinese FM on his appointment

Addis Ababa, January 4, 2023 (FBC) – The FDRE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Demeke Mekonnen pens a congratulatory letter to the newly appointed Chinese Minister of Foreign Affairs, Qin Gang.

DPM & FM Demeke Mekonnen congratulated Qin Gang on his appointment as Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China.

MFA Ethiopia’s social media post indicates that DPM & FM Demeke reaffirmed Ethiopia’s firm commitment to deepening the bilateral relationship between the two countries.

He also expressed his hope that the comprehensive, strategic, and cooperative partnership between Ethiopia and China will be enriched during Qin Gang’s tenure in office.

In a letter addressed to the new Chinese Foreign Minister on January 3, 2023, Demeke further expressed his wishes for Qin Gang’s personal well-being, as well as the People’s Republic of China’s continued peace, progress, and prosperity.

Qin Gang, China’s ambassador to the United States of America and a trusted aide of President Xi Jinping, has been appointed as the country’s new Foreign Minister by the 13th National People’s Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, replacing the former FM, Wang Yi.
