Electric Utility says 125 new towns get access to power in six months

Addis Ababa, February 1, 2021 (FBC) – Electric Utility stated that 125 new towns have got access to electric power during the last six months.

The Utility unveiled that it has managed to achieve 78pct of the plan set to address 161 new towns with electric power.

The Electric Utility also said that it has managed to access power to 10 towns with reconstruction works.

According to Electric Utility, a total of 135 rural towns and localities have got access to electric power both in new and reconstruction works of expansion.

It is also stated that the Electric Utility has built 1,439 Kilo meters electric transmission lines and installed 427 transformers over the last six months as part of increasing expansion of power access to rural areas in the country.
