Embassy in Kenya facilitates repatriation of 200 Ethiopians

Addis Ababa, January 12, 2023 (FBC) – The Ethiopian Embassy in Kenya has announced on Thursday that it facilitated the repatriation of 200 Ethiopians.

The Embassy stated that the returnees are Ethiopians that attempted to cross the Kenyan border to travel to South Africa through illegal traffickers.

Therefore, through the embassy’s hard work of, their charges were dropped and they were released from prison and allowed to return to their country on amnesty.

The Ethiopians are said to have been incarcerated in Langata, Industrial, Makongi, Kasarani, and Kayule prisons for two to six months.

It has been shown that the Ethiopian Embassy in Kenya is working closely with Kenya’s immigration officials and Criminal Investigation Directorate to protect the rights of citizens.

The Embassy’s statement on social media indicates that it has previously facilitated the release and repatriation of hundreds of Ethiopian citizens from prison.
