ENDF says thwarted planned attack by al-Shabaab terror group

Addis Ababa, October 2, 2023 (FBC) – The Ethiopian National Defense Forces (ENDF) today confirmed that a planned terror attack by al-Shabaab terrorist group was effectively foiled.

ENDF said that the terrorist group was about to carry out a suicide bombing attack in Dolo Ado woreda of Somali Region with six jerrycans of incendiary chemicals and 3 thousand bullets. However, ENDF units deployed in the area and regional security forces have successfully thwarted the attempted attack and arrested suicide bombers.

Brigadier General Getachew Habtamu reminded that al-Shabaab terrorist group has made repeated attempts to cause terror and destruction in the country previously, but thanks to the combination of the people and security forces, the terrorist group’s is being foiled.

For his part, Lieutenant Ayele Fenrta stated that the morale and efficiency of the army is superior in fighting against the al-Shabaab group in the region as well as internal and external anti-peace forces.
