ERA awards over 18b birr road project contracts to local, foreign firms

Addis Ababa, February 3, 2021 (FBC) –The Ethiopian Roads Authority (ERA) has awarded eight road project contracts to local and foreign firms.

The project will be built with a total cost of 18.2 billion birr, it was noted at agreement signing ceremony.

ERA awarded 21 road project contracts in the past six months alone. The roads with a total length of 1, 774km will be executed with 43.3 billion birr.

The construction cost for 20 of the projects will be covered by the government of Ethiopia.

The remaining road project will be built with support from JICA and loan secured from the African Development Bank (AfDB) and World Bank (WB) and budget allocated by the Ethiopian Government.
