Ethiopia, Algeria agree to work cooperatively in Pharmaceutical Industry sector

Addis Ababa, November 24, 2020 (FBC) – Ambassador Plenipotentiary Extraordinary of Ethiopia to Algeria, Nebiat Getachew discussed with Minister of Pharmaceutical Industry of Algeria, Lofti Benbahmed on various issues mutual interest.

The two discussed on ways of bolstering mutual cooperation and sharing experiences on pharmaceutical manufacturing industry and production of pharma machinery, among others.

Highlighting the bilateral relationship between Ethiopia and Algeria in the political sphere, ambassador Nebiat stressed need to cement the ties in the economic sector.

Saying that Ethiopia responds to local demand of medicines through importing drugs from abroad, ambassador Nebiat added that the government has now introduced policies and strategies and constructed pharmaceutical Industrial park in order to facilitate conducive atmosphere for foreign companies.

The Algerian Minister, to his part, affirmed readiness of his country to share its best experiences in the Pharmaceutical Manufacturing sector and vowed to support activities being undertaken by Ethiopian embassy to attract Algerian investors to the country.

On the other hand, ambassador Nebiat briefed the Algerian Minister on the ongoing law enforcement operation underway in Tigray.

He told the Minister that the law enforcement operation being carried out against the TPLF Junta is at its decisive chapter in a way to bring perpetrators to justice soon.

Algerian Pharmaceutical Industry Minister, to his part, said ensuring rule of law is the major mandatory of any government, adding that the same is applicable in the case Ethiopia’s law enforcement operation.
