Ethiopia calls on int’l community to collaborate in addressing humanitarian situation in Africa

Addis Ababa, June 26, 2022 (FBC) – Addressing the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) organizational session, Ethiopian Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Taye Atskeselassie said The humanitarian crisis in Africa is the result of multiple overlapping and accumulated causes.

Out of 113 million people who are in need in Africa, 40 million are in the Horn of Africa, Ambassador Taye noted.

While recovery from emergencies is the responsibility of concerned countries, tangible International collaboration is critical to address the humanitarian situation in the continent, he stressed.
